The ScoreWrite System© was developed for occupational therapists and teachers working with children with handwriting difficulties. The ScoreWrite System© is an effective tool that can compliment your favorite handwriting curriculum or teaching techniques.
The ScoreWrite System© uses two distinct papers and a special clipboard to progress students through three stages of competency, culminating in a transition to standard wide ruled paper. By use of defined lines and shading the ScoreWrite System© paper and clipboard are visualization tools designed to encourage proper letter formation and spacing.
Through use of a color coded tool students are encouraged to identify and correct their own mistakes in a fun and non-threatening manner. The colors used in the ScoreWrite System© allow quick and easy identification of common handwriting errors in the areas of spacing, omissions, reversals, letter formation, and capitalization & punctuation.
A series of progressive writing samples with word and letter count combined with the ScoreWrite System© color code tool allows the therapist or teacher to quantify handwriting progress. The result is a percentage score that can easily be used to develop goals or measure progress which may then be included in a student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
